Sport, community, and great energy in Mkambati this past weekend.
The first leg of the Mkambati soccer tournament (25–27 April), hosted by the Mkambati NPC in partnership with MLT and ECPTA, brought together teams from the Upper Villages. CJ Stars (Mtshayelo A/A) took the win after a penalty shootout, with Junior Chiefs (Ingquza A/A) finishing as runners-up.
With strong local support and hundreds of spectators in attendance, it was a fantastic start to the tournament series.
GweGwe Beach Lodge sponsored a full kit for the winners, with additional prizes awarded across categories including Best Player, Goalkeeper, and Top Goal Scorer.
Next up: the Down Villages tournament (3–5 May), with the top teams progressing to the finals at Mkambati Nature Reserve later this year.
We’re proud to sponsor the laptop for the winner of Miss Inkonjane Community Radio "Sixoxa Sonke", a small investment in a young woman’s future, with the hope that it supports her journey in education and beyond.
Hosted by Inkonjane Community Radio "Sixoxa Sonke", this initiative speaks directly to the real challenges many learners face when it comes to access to technology, while also creating a platform for confidence, growth, and opportunity.
As the station celebrates 17 years of serving the AmaMpondo communities across Bizana, Flagstaff, Lusikisiki, Port St Johns and beyond, we’re honoured to stand alongside a platform that continues to uplift and connect.
